Korean Movie New and Future ReleaseBa:Bo
Cha Tae Hyun / Ha Ji Won

Director Kim Jeong Kwon brings back the allure of his 2000 box-office smash Ditto in his latest melodrama Ba:Bo, which is based on a best-selling internet comic by award-winning web-comic artist Kang Pool. This heartwarming tale stars My Sassy Girl's Cha Tae Hyun in the titular role Babo (which means "a fool" in Korean), a scruffy-looking but lovable naif with the intellect of a six-year-old - an unfortunate circumstance brought on by a freak accident many years back which also took his father's life. His untainted innocence touches the heart of Ji Ho, portrayed by the talented actress Ha Ji Won who has cultivated a chameleon-like versatility that enables her to take on a wide variety of genres from horror to action to melodrama. Ha makes a memorable turn playing an anxiety-stricken pianist with a badly torn spirit. Displaying the triumph of innocence and human resilience, Ba:Bo challenges its audience to stop and smell the roses, and see the wonders and beauties life has to offer.
Studying and practicing piano abroad for years, Ji Ho (Ha Ji Won) dreams of becoming a world-famous pianist. But that dream comes crashing down one fateful night. During her live performance, Ji Ho suffers a nasty case of stage fright. Returning to her hometown, she tries to pick up the pieces, but falls into deep depression. She runs into her old classmate Soong Ryong (Cha Tae Hyun)- once the smartest kid in the class but now the town's mockery. But Ji Ho looks beyond the surface and finds refuge in his innocence. Soong Ryong makes a living selling toast at his teenage sister Jee In's school, much to his sister's embarrassment of having a "babo" as her brother. Then one day, tragedy strikes Soong Ryong's life: Jee In becomes ill and Sang Soo, his longtime best friend, gets involved in a messy gangster-related crime. But no need to worry as superhero Soong Ryong comes to the rescue! Suddenly the word Babo starts to take on a whole new meaning. ~from yesasia~
