Based on a Kawaguchi Hare novel, 10 Promises to My Dog (a.k.a. Inu to Watashi no 10 no Yakusoku) follows a girl and her dog over a decade's time. Tanaka Rena (Giniro no Season) and her younger counterpart Fukada Mayuko (L change the WorLd) portray the same character at different ages, showing how a young woman's relationship with her family, her dog, and herself evolves as she grows up and experiences the bittersweet turns of life. Directed by Motoki Katsuhide (Gegege no Kitaro), this pet film inspires both smiles and tears with its cute canine lead and its touching story of family and friendship. 10 Promises to My Dog also co-stars Kase Ryo (I Just Didn't Do It), Ikewaki Chizuru (Across a Gold Prairie), and Toyokawa Etsushi (Sinking of Japan).
With her mother in the hospital and her father (Toyokawa Etsushi) always busy with work, 14-year-old Akari (Fukada Mayuko) can't help feeling lonely. One day, a puppy suddenly shows up at her house, and Akari convinces her father to let her keep it. She names the puppy Socks and promises to take good care of him. With Socks around to give her company and support, Akari pulls through some tough times in life, trying hard to keep her smile and her pact with her furry best friend. As the years pass by, Akari (Tanaka Rena) grows up and gradually begins to feel that taking caring of Socks is a burden... ~yesasia~
